Why God Sent the Flood

Aug 5, 2026    Shane Warren

Ancient writings such as Enoch, Jasher, and the Book of Giants do not carry the authority of Scripture, but they preserve how ancient Jewish communities understood the events surrounding Genesis 6. Their accounts reinforce a world overtaken by supernatural rebellion, forbidden knowledge, violence, and the corruption of God’s created order.

The flood was more than a response to ordinary human wickedness. Scripture says that “all flesh” had become corrupted, while Noah remained “perfect in his generations.” Confront the devastating extent of the rebellion and understand why preserving Noah’s family was essential to preserving humanity—and the promised Seed who would ultimately crush the serpent.
